About Me
Alexander Snyder is an illustrator, sculptor and college professor. Originally from Western NY, Alex moved to Sarasota, FL, where he earned his BFA with Honors in Sculpture from Ringling College of Art and Design. Post graduation he worked for the reputable BronzArt Foundry for 16 years developing his skills in sculpting, moldmaking, casting, metalworking, fabrication and patination. This provided Alex the opportunity to work with many well known US and international artists, including working on the artwork of Robert Rauschenberg.
In addition to creating sculpture, Alexander has been a Professor at Ringling College since 2011, teaching design fundamentals, color theory, story development, character design, human anatomy, sculpting, painting, and environmental design and fabrication.
Always eager to strengthen his skills, Alexander earned his MFA in Illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2021, and now combines his two disciplines to create 3-D illustration in addition to his traditional illustrations and sculptures. Alex’s work reflects his appreciation of the application of classical beauty. He finds inspiration from his Christian faith, studying world mythologies, the works of Bayre, Rodin and Michaelangelo, Frank Frazetta and the Golden Age Illustrators.
When not sculpting, drawing or teaching Alexander enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and family.
